a shot in the dark

the tower of babylon reached sky high
before the men and the women
realized that they could never hope to touch
god's pinky toe with their stones,
their pickaxes,
their mortar.
if they had just asked the children,
they wouldn't even have started the damn thing.

there was god on a rock two months ago,
and names in the sand.
the ocean sprawling sideways, upwards,
downwards,
and nothing was clearer than
one single name.

and i guess i like it better when you're happy.
you think better that way, too.
i don't mean that there's no message,
but you're not always meant to see it.
not now, maybe not ever.
so you might as well let it come through.

2) but i'm waiting on you!
3) the movie!
4) i like how the first stanza is awesome, the second one is vague, and the third one rhymes that one time.

304-2409.

happiness is not an absolute concept. deeper questions can mean the capacity for deeper happiness.
